2nd gen vs. 3rd gen pros and cons

My Lexus ES 350 just keeps going, so i’ve been in no rush to replace it, but lately i’ve been checking out 3row SUVs again. After driving a few different options, I keep circling back to the MDX. Now i’m debating between a late 2nd Gen and an early 3rd Gen in the pre owned market.

For those who’ve owned either, what are the pros and cons you’ve noticed?

@Fl0under25 The 2nd Gen is more reliable long-term and cheaper to maintain, but the 3rd Gen has better tech and a more refined ride. It really depends if you value modern features over proven durability
